The Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute, Bangalore, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka State, was founded in 1938. Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir M. Visvesvarayya, the two statesmen, were responsible for the construction of this edifice as a mark of celebration of 25 years of benevolent to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of an eventful reign of Late His Highness Nalwadi Krishnarajendra Wodeyar Bahadur, Maharaja of Mysore. This institution being the first of its kind in South India with a view to provide well trained personnel for higher rungs of the organized textile industry covering various facets of the industry, is growing in its heights year after year and today it can claim to be the tallest institution and is under the control of the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka. * The B.Sc. (Textiles) course was commenced in 1946, and in 1973 the same was changed to B.Tech. (Textiles). * M.Tech. (Textiles) Course was commenced in 1970. * B.Tech. (Silk Technology) Course was commenced in 1991. * B.Tech. (Textiles) - Evening College was commenced during 1996-97 for the benefit of Diploma holders in Textile Technology. The Institute is recognized as Ph.D., Centre for Textile Technology from the academic year 2007/08 by the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee of this great institute was celebrated by the Alumni Association on a very grand scale and many of the past students from different parts of the country and from abroad had participated on this joyous occasion. From 2007/08 onwards the following B.E. Courses have been started: * Computer Science and Engineering * Electronics & Communication Engineering * Civil Engineering. The college has a rich heritage, and every year on September 15, Engineer's day is celebrated at the college front lawn which consists of a tall statue of Dr.M.Visvesvaraya (inaugurated by the Late. V. V. Giri, The then President of India,in 1970 ). The college's new block covering large area is under construction for starting up additional advanced textiles and other courses. Dr.K G Chandrashekhara, the current principal with other dignitaries including the college's most respected professor and ex-principal Prof. D V Muniswamy, inaugurated the textile forum TEXSIL in 2011 (Suraj B.C of 6th semester designed its logo). COMPACT and FELCOM are other two significant forums of CSE and EC respectively.
